In college, I was learning a new printmaking technique - drypoint. At a loss for imagery, I drew an admittedly terrible bird sitting on a barbed wire fence. During critique, my professor said I should never draw another bird again. It was spoken and taken as a joke, but I was also ashamed that I had not put any effort into the image, so I worked very hard to learn how to draw birds. So, thanks Jim, for compelling me to learn how to depict these descendants of dinosaurs.
